By day you change once. The bus ends at Ospedale Maggiore; bus 81 or 91 takes you the last 13 to 14 minutes to the station on the same ticket. Budget about 32 minutes door to door against the monorail's 7 and a half.

At night it is direct and the monorail is closed. Between midnight and 02:15, and again at 04:20 and 04:50, this bus runs straight to the station in 22 minutes and is the only public transport there is.

It is EUR 2.30 against EUR 12.80. For a family of four that is EUR 9.20 against EUR 51.20.

Traveling in a group, one EUR 19.00 carnet covers ten rides and may be shared — EUR 1.90 a head.

Every figure here is a minimum with a meter above it. The old city is about 6 km, so expect the minimum plus a little.

Between 02:15 and 04:20 this is the only way into Bologna.

It may legally carry eight, at EUR 1.15 extra per passenger from the fifth. For a large group at night it is worth comparing against eight bus fares — EUR 18.40 — before dismissing it.

The night supplement of EUR 3.15 applies from 22:00.
