Going somewhere specific?
"The center" is not one place, and the answer changes
The Peretola Aeroporto tram stop is a two-minute walk from arrivals and departures alike — follow the signs for the tramvia. It's the line's own terminus, so every tram waiting there is heading into the city.
Tickets
Buy a ticket first, from the at-bus app or the platform machine, both of which take contactless cards — or skip buying altogether and tap a contactless bank card, phone or watch straight on the reader inside the tram.
The taxi rank
The rank is in the area right in front of the terminal. If it's empty, call a radio taxi on 055 4242, 055 4390 or 055 4798 instead of waiting.
Uber and Bolt
Uber operates at Florence airport through its Black tier of licensed drivers, not ordinary UberX. There's no single pickup point — request a ride and follow the app's own directions to the meeting spot.

It is EUR 2.00 whatever the party size, with no airport supplement: eight people pay EUR 16 against EUR 34 in the regulated taxi. Nothing on this page beats it while it runs.
Validate or tap before the tram moves, every person, every time; a tapped card covers one passenger, so a family taps one card, one phone and one watch, or buys at the machine.
The last tram from the airport is 00:10 Sunday to Thursday and 01:36 on Friday and Saturday nights; the last that runs through to San Marco is 23:58 and 01:15. From then until 05:00 there is nothing at the terminal but a taxi.
A cabin bag of 55 x 40 x 20 cm is over the free limit and needs its own EUR 2 ticket; a case over 80 x 45 x 25 cm or 20 kg is not admitted at all. Staff may refuse luggage on a full tram.
Some trams, including the last of the night, end at Unità beside the station rather than running on to San Marco; check the destination on the front if you want Fortezza, Libertà or San Marco.

It applies only if you are at the pickup point when the taxi arrives. The radio call is included, with no discounts. Vehicles seat up to eight for this fare.
It loses to the tram at every party size: EUR 34 for eight against EUR 16. Its case is the night — nothing else leaves the terminal between the last tram and 05:00 — and luggage the tram's rules do not admit.
Three fares by the clock and the calendar: EUR 28 on a weekday between 06:00 and 22:00, EUR 30 on a Sunday or public holiday by day, EUR 32 between 22:00 and 06:00 every night. This page prices the weekday and night fares; add EUR 2 yourself on a holiday.
Luggage is extra at EUR 1.20 a piece, and so is every passenger from the fourth; the supplements are capped at EUR 14.40. An ordinary taxi seats four; for five or more ask at the rank for a larger vehicle or call one.
The fixed fare covers hotels and private addresses inside the ring of viali, the old walls. Beyond it the meter runs, from EUR 3.80 by day and EUR 7.70 at night, at EUR 1.10 to 2.10 a kilometer.
The airport's sign prints a EUR 3.00 airport-departure supplement, but the Comune's table sets it at EUR 3.10 and applies it only to metered fares, not this fixed one; agree the total before setting off. The radio call is included in the fixed fare.
The fare is compulsory only if you are at the pickup point when the taxi arrives; the cooperatives' sheet says it lapses if the booked time is not kept.
No authority publishes a journey time beyond the airport's "circa 15 minuti", read from an archived copy of its taxi page; allow more in traffic.

Vola in Bus, an older coach to the station, no longer runs — the tram replaced it. The airport's bus page lists one coach in 2026: Caronna's service to Pisa airport, from the T2's Guidoni stop. Pisa's airport, 80 km away, is where most low-cost flights sold for Tuscany land; its daytime coaches to Florence may not enter the city and end at Guidoni, one stop up this same line.
