Tap a contactless bank card: EUR 1.92, valid across the network — the cheapest option if you arrive with nothing. A navegante occasional card (EUR 0.50) plus a single ticket (EUR 1.90) costs EUR 2.40 instead. Zapping is cheapest per journey at EUR 1.72, but needs the card and a EUR 3 minimum top-up.
Luggage. No stated limit. Note that Carris caps luggage on city buses at 55x40x20 cm; the metro does not.
Hours. The whole network runs 06:30 to 01:00 every day including weekends and public holidays, the closing time being when the last train leaves each line's terminus. There is no extended night service on the red line, so a landing after 01:00 has no metro.
The options are still here — your budget or journey-time filter is drawn tighter than any of them. Widen either one, or reset the filters, to bring them back.

Going somewhere specific?
"The center" is not one place, and the answer changes
The metro's Aeroporto station sits inside the arrivals building itself — Metro Lisboa's own address for it is the arrivals zone of the airport terminal. There is no shuttle bus and nothing outside to find.
Finding the stop
Every Carris bus through the airport, day or night, uses the stops named Aeroporto and Av. Berlim (Aeroporto), on the road right outside the terminal.
Tickets
Aeroporto station has ticket vending machines, but its staffed sales booth is currently closed. Buy a navegante card and top up there, or skip both and tap a contactless bank card at the gate for EUR 1.92.
The taxi rank
Taxis queue outside the departures and arrivals terminals. Book on site or by app, never from someone who approaches you inside the terminal — the airport's own safety advice. Expect EUR 10 to 15 to the centre, with the meter running from the start.
Uber and Bolt
Uber and Bolt pick up from a dedicated area at P2, level 2, on the arrivals level. Arrange the ride on the app before you go there — the airport's own safety advice is never to accept one from someone approaching you inside the terminal.
Luggage
Carris caps luggage on its buses at 55 by 40 by 20 cm — its own safety and comfort rule for every route through the airport. The metro states no limit at all.

The metro does not sell tickets on board and takes no cash from a driver. Buy at the machines in the station, or tap a contactless bank card at the gate.
A single Carris/Metro ticket is valid for one journey within an hour of first validation and does not allow two consecutive entries to the metro. One card cannot carry two people through the gate.
The last train leaves at 01:00 and the first at 06:30. A landing in that gap has no metro. Carris runs night bus 208 through the airport but does not publish its times at this stop, so there is no scheduled alternative to point to.
The airport tells arriving passengers they must buy the navegante card. For one person going one way, tapping a bank card is simpler and 48 cents cheaper.
The whole network runs 06:30 to 01:00 every day including weekends and public holidays, the closing time being when the last train leaves each line's terminus. There is no extended night service on the red line, so a landing after 01:00 has no metro.

The metro closes at about 01:00 and opens at 06:30; a landing in that gap has no metro.
The red line leaves the airport every 7 to 10 minutes; the last departure that still catches the blue line at São Sebastião is about 01:00.

EUR 0.50 for a reusable Navegante Ocasional card, if you do not already hold one from the metro fare, plus EUR 1.90 for the metro's own single on that card and EUR 2.55 for CP's single on to Cascais — EUR 4.95 the first time, EUR 4.45 on a card already loaded. The same card pays for both legs; CP does not take the metro gate's contactless bank-card tap.
Two separate tickets on the same Navegante card: tap through the metro gates, then buy or validate CP's own ticket again at Cais do Sodré — the systems do not talk to each other automatically.
CP's trains to Cascais are frequent — every 15 minutes at the morning peak, every 20 to 30 off it — so the metro and the change at Alameda, not the Cascais line itself, decide how long the trip takes.
The fastest CP trains take 33 minutes; a few scheduled ones take longer with a stop pattern that adds time rather than a change of train.
The metro itself runs 06:30 to 01:00 and CP's own trains to Cascais nearly as late (05:30 to about 01:30), but a late metro leaves too little time to change at Alameda and again at Cais do Sodré before the last one; treat 23:00 as the safe last departure from the airport for this chain.

Two separate tickets on the same Navegante card: tap through the metro gates, then buy or validate CP's own ticket again at Rossio.
The fastest CP trains take 40 minutes; roughly every other scheduled departure takes 44 to 54 minutes instead, with a change of its own partway — check which kind a departure is before you plan around it.
Overnight, CP's own trains stop entirely from about 01:01 to 05:41; nothing here bridges that gap.
CP's own trains to Sintra run about 05:41 to 23:31 on weekdays, with a gap from roughly 01:01 to 05:41 overnight, every 15 to 30 minutes. The metro itself runs 06:30 to 01:00; treat 22:30 as the safe last departure from the airport, since a late metro leaves too little time to change at Alameda and again at Rossio.

Worth knowing
The metro station is inside the arrivals building, so there is no shuttle bus and nothing to find. That is unusual enough among the airports here to be worth saying plainly.
Tap a contactless bank card at the gate: EUR 1.92, nothing to buy in advance. Buying a navegante occasional card (EUR 0.50) plus a single ticket (EUR 1.90) costs EUR 2.40 instead. The taxi rank is outside arrivals. Expect roughly EUR 10 to 15, depending on traffic — luggage fees may be charged separately. Make sure the meter is running; it is not a fixed fare.
Metro Lisboa's airport page still lists Aerobus lines 1 and 2 among the connections from the station. Carris describes the Aerobus shelter at the airport as inactive — do not plan on it running.
