EUR 40 is a ceiling: the meter runs, and it may stop lower. You cannot be charged more to an address inside the ZTL, whatever the hour.
A standard taxi seats four, so nothing flips here: four people pay EUR 14.80 on the train or EUR 30 on the bus against EUR 40. Cars for six to eight are quoted on request.
Between the last bus at midnight and the first Flibco at 04:45 this is the only way into the city.
