On arrival at Warsaw Chopin Airport

From the arrivals hall to each way in
Finding the station

The station is underground, a short walk from the terminal. It's also where lines toward Warszawa Centralna, Wschodnia, Zachodnia and Śródmieście all call, so onward connections across Poland start from the same platform.

Finding the stop

Board buses 175, 188 and the N32 from the stop on the arrivals level. There is a matching stop one level up on departures, but that one is not for leaving the airport.

The taxi rank

The airport recommends only its affiliated taxi corporations — check that the price list is displayed on the windscreen before you get in. iTaxi is one of the affiliated firms and takes bookings on 737 737 737.

Uber and Bolt

Uber runs self-service "Tap to Ride" kiosks in both the baggage hall and the arrivals hall — use one to book without the app. Bolt has no kiosk here; open its app instead once you're through arrivals.

Buy the 75-MINUTE ticket, not the 20-MINUTE one. The cheaper ticket expires before Śródmieście and Centralna — SKM says so in its own FAQ and the airport says "buy a ticket of at least 75 minutes". It reaches Warszawa Zachodnia and nothing further.

A ticket from the machine on the train is validated the moment it is printed. If the train is still standing at the airport, wait until it moves.

S2 goes to Śródmieście, S3 and RL to Centralna. They leave from the same platform, and the S3 and RL share a track; check the screen.

On the RL, a Koleje Mazowieckie train, validate the ZTM ticket in the validator on board, or board by the first door and show it to the train manager. Outside the airport section the RL does not take 20-, 75- or 90-minute ZTM tickets at all.

Nobody on the train sells tickets, the on-board machines take cards only, and SKM tickets are not sold at railway station ticket offices. Cash buyers use the machines at the station entrance.

Before 06:11 only the S2 runs, every 30 minutes from 04:56, plus the 05:41 RL.

The S2 runs at :26 and :56, 04:56–23:56, every day; the S3 at :11, 06:11–23:11; the RL at :41, 05:41–23:41. From 06:11 to 23:56 that's a train every 15 minutes.

Board on the arrivals level. WTP states that boarding buses on the upper, departures level to leave the airport is not allowed.

The airport itself allows about 30 minutes to Centrum, and the weekday peak runs to 43 minutes to Pl. Piłsudskiego. The train is faster to both stations.

From 23:03 every 175 terminates at Centrum; the last one to Pl. Piłsudskiego leaves at 22:53.

At weekends the last stretch runs by Marszałkowska, Królewska and Zachęta instead of Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście; the terminus is the same.

The 20-minute ticket is valid for exactly 20 minutes from validation. Zachodnia is 14–16 minutes away, within that window; Śródmieście and Centralna take 21–23, so this ticket only gets you to Zachodnia.

Validate it as you board, not at the station entrance, and not from the on-board machine while the train is standing at the airport — the machine validates at purchase.

If you stay on past Zachodnia you are traveling without a valid ticket by the time the train reaches Śródmieście or Centralna.

It saves PLN 1 a head against the 75-minute ticket. For anywhere but Zachodnia, that is the whole of what it does.

The same trains as the full-fare option: S2 04:56–23:56, S3 06:11–23:11, RL 05:41–23:41, every day.

Worth knowing

The ordinary 75-minute zone-1 ticket, PLN 4.40, works on the S2 and S3 trains, on Koleje Mazowieckie's RL train as far as Warszawa Płudy, on bus 175 and on night bus N32 — one fare, any hour. Children under seven travel free; ages 7 to 16 pay PLN 2.20 with a photo ID showing their birth date.

The machines also sell a cheaper 20-minute ticket, PLN 3.40 — avoid it for the center. Every train takes 21 to 23 minutes to Śródmieście or Centralna, so the ticket expires before you arrive; it only reaches Warszawa Zachodnia (14–16 minutes). Buy the 75-minute ticket, PLN 4.40, instead. A ticket bought on board validates the moment it prints, so buy it while the train still waits at the airport.

Everything costs PLN 4.40 a head, so the answer is the same for one traveler as for eight. The PLN 40 weekend group ticket (up to five people, Friday 19:00 to Monday 08:00) is not worth it — five singles cost PLN 22. The PLN 22 ten-person group ticket is reduced-fare only; adults cannot use it.

S2 leaves at :26 and :56, reaching Warszawa Śródmieście (beside Centralna) in 22 minutes; S3 at :11 and RL at :41 reach Warszawa Centralna itself in 21 and 23. All three call at Warszawa Zachodnia. From 06:11 to 23:56 that's a train every 15 minutes; before that only the S2 runs, from 04:56. On the RL train, validate your ticket on board or board by the first door and show it to the conductor.

The city caps taxi prices: PLN 10 to start, PLN 5 a kilometer on weekdays 06:00–22:00, PLN 7.50 at night, on Sundays and holidays. Expect around PLN 50 to the center, about 8.5 km away, though this is an estimate. One passenger pays for the whole car.

There is no night gap: the last train leaves at 23:56, the last bus 175 at 23:58, and night bus N32 takes over at 00:13, 00:28 and 00:43, then every half hour until 04:43, reaching Dw. Centralny in 20 minutes on the same PLN 4.40 ticket. The first S2 is at 04:56, the first 175 at 04:58.
