Baggage reclaim has a French exit and a Swiss exit, and arriving passengers choose freely which one to leave by — both are clearly marked. Pick the side that matches your bus before going through; reaching the other one afterwards means walking back through customs.

Tickets

The TNW machine at the Swiss-side stop takes coins in Swiss francs or euros, or a credit or debit card — it doesn't take banknotes. Nothing is sold on board the bus, so buy before you board.

CHF 6.60 for a three-zone single, valid two hours (airport zone 13, city zone 10), against CHF 4.20 within the city. A six-ride card is CHF 33.00 and can be shared by a group, so six ride for the price of five. Half-fare card holders pay CHF 4.20. Free with a Basel hotel booking confirmation.

Take the Swiss door out of baggage reclaim. This bus does not exist on the French side.

If you have a Basel hotel booking, this ride is free — show the confirmation. That is the tariff, not a promotion.

It costs CHF 2.40 more than a city single because the airport is its own fare zone. There is no cheaper ticket for this ride.

Six or fewer of you traveling together: one six-ride card at CHF 33.00 beats singles from six people, and the tariff allows it.

EUR 3.00, the "titre unitaire navette EuroAirport" — the only single ticket valid on line 11; the ordinary EUR 1.70 ticket does not work here. Bought on board, it also covers an hour on the rest of the Distribus network. Buy it on the bus, in Distribus's online shop, or by SMS ("EAP" to 93400, French numbers only). Children under 6 ride free; above that age it is the full EUR 3.00. Distribus and TNW season tickets, the Alsa+ 24h Saint-Louis day ticket and the TriRegio pass are also accepted.

This is the French door. Leave baggage reclaim by the French exit; the bus does not serve the Swiss side, and once you are through one exit the other is a walk back through customs.

EUR 3.00 in euros: the price is not converted to francs here and is not compared with the CHF 6.60 bus into Basel, because no authority publishes a rate to compare them at.

The ordinary EUR 1.70 Distribus ticket is not valid on line 11.

Last bus 23:35 every day, then nothing from the French door until 05:35 (06:35 Saturday, 06:05 Sunday).

Worth knowing

Choose your door before baggage reclaim. The Swiss exit leads to a bus into Basel priced in francs; the French exit leads to a bus into Saint-Louis priced in euros. Once through one, reaching the other means walking back through customs.

A Basel hotel booking confirmation works as a free bus ticket from the airport into the city — no form, no card needed. The BaselCard is not valid to France, but it does cover the airport itself, since the airport counts as Swiss for fare purposes despite standing on French soil.

The airport is its own fare zone, which is how the surcharge hides. A single into Basel is three zones at CHF 6.60 against CHF 4.20 for a city ride — 57% more, delivered by zoning, with no document anywhere calling it an airport supplement.

Distribus line 11 runs to Saint-Louis station for EUR 3.00, about ten minutes; the ordinary EUR 1.70 Distribus ticket does not work on this line. From Saint-Louis it is EUR 7.60 and 13 minutes by train to Mulhouse, or EUR 3.30 and 25 minutes by tram 3 into Basel. For Basel, this is the long way round.

Traveling as a group, one six-ride card covers six of you. The regional tariff states the holder may validate it for several people traveling together, and at CHF 33.00 it is six rides for the price of five.

No taxi fare is published for either door. Basel-Stadt caps the meter and allows a flat price by agreement; the French side caps the meter and adds EUR 4 per person from the fifth. Both allow up to eight passengers. Agree the fare before you get in.

Nothing leaves either door between 00:39 and 04:37, any night of the week. Bus 50 is not part of Basel's weekend night network. The French bus stops earlier still, at 23:35.

Distribus bus 11 to Saint-Louis station is EUR 3.00 and takes ten minutes; see its own listing below. It goes to a different country than the CHF 6.60 bus into Basel, so the two fares are not comparable.

No distance to Basel, Mulhouse or Freiburg is published by the airport. It describes itself as located in France; the airlines that fly here file it under Switzerland.

For Mulhouse: bus 11 to Saint-Louis station, then the TER — EUR 3.00 plus EUR 7.60, about 45 minutes with the change; Soléa runs nothing to the airport directly. Or take bus 50 to Basel SBB and the TER from there, CHF 12.20 from Basel's city zone, valid on trains calling at Basel St. Johann. Freiburg has a direct coach, Freiburger Reisedienst's Airportbus, 13 departures a day from 08:00 to 00:30, about 55 minutes, but its fare is not published. The alternative is bus 50, tram 2 to Basel Badischer Bahnhof, then Deutsche Bahn, whose intercity fares change by date.
