On arrival at Catania Airport

From the arrivals hall to each way in
Finding the station

The railway station, Catania Aeroporto Fontanarossa, is about 600 m from the terminal along the signed footpath, or a ride on the AMTS shuttle from outside arrivals, every 10 minutes from 04:30 to 22:40. Trains go to Catania Centrale and on to Taormina, Messina and Syracuse.

Finding the stop

The Alibus leaves from the stand on the forecourt in front of the old terminal building, just outside arrivals; the first bus is 04:40 and the last 00:30. The coaches to Syracuse, Taormina, Ragusa, Agrigento and Palermo leave from the same forecourt.

Tickets

The Alibus ticket is EUR 4.00 from the machines at the airport (coins or cards), the AMTS app or a reseller, and EUR 4.00 on board by card; it also covers 90 minutes on the other city buses. The ordinary EUR 1.40 city ticket and the day ticket are not valid on the Alibus, and a ticket bought on another AMTS bus costs EUR 4.60.

The taxi rank

The rank is at the arrivals exit. Licensed Catania taxis are white, with TAXI on the roof and the licence number on the doors; any other car waiting outside may be unlicensed and charge more than the Comune's tariff. Ask the staff at the rank what the fare will be before you get in.

At night

After the 00:30 Alibus nothing public runs until the 04:40 bus; the trains stop earlier still, at 20:28. In those hours it is the taxi rank at the arrivals exit.
