By metro: M4 to Sforza-Policlinico (13 minutes), change to M3 at Missori, five stops to Centrale FS (8 minutes) — 21 minutes of train time plus the walk between stations, one EUR 2.20 ticket. The two coaches go direct in 25 minutes for EUR 5 online or EUR 10, but run far less often than the metro.

Hours, tickets & luggage

The ordinary Mi1-Mi3 ticket, EUR 2.20, covers 90 minutes of unlimited rides, including changing lines through the gates. No airport supplement. Children under 14 travel free with ID. Day ticket EUR 7.60, three days EUR 15.50, carnet of ten EUR 19.50. A tapped bank card or phone pays the same fare and caps at the day rate from the fourth ride.

Luggage. Carried free. ATM's current metro rules refuse only items over 90 cm on any side at the gates and mention no charge; a 2007 company regulation still on ATM's site asks for a ticket for a case over 50 cm, and the current rules do not repeat it.

Hours. First train 05:40 Monday to Saturday, 06:00 on Sundays and holidays; last 00:26 every day. Every 3 to 4 minutes by day, every 6 after 20:00.

EUR 5.00 one way, EUR 10.00 return online — the stop price is higher but not published. Children 2 to 12 are EUR 2.50, under-2s free. The ticket is valid on any departure and not refundable.

Luggage. One hold bag and one small bag included; more if there is room.

Hours. Two timetables alternate week by week: hourly 09:00–21:00 plus 22:30 in one week, hourly 08:30–21:30 in the next. Either way, fourteen departures a day, via Lambrate after 10 minutes.

Does the NM4 night bus stop at Milano Centrale?

No. It runs to Corso Europa at Piazza San Babila (the "Europa" stop) in 19 scheduled minutes.

What if my flight arrives late?

Not everything runs around the clock: the Metro M4 runs 05:40–00:26, and the Airport Bus Express coach runs 09:00–21:30, and the Linate Shuttle coach runs 09:00–16:30. Outside those hours nothing runs to the center.
