Bus 973, to Piazza Cinque Giornate, stops at Gate 8 in the arrivals area. The two coaches to Milano Centrale, the Linate Shuttle and the Airport Bus Express, use their own stop at the terminal instead.

It is the same EUR 2.20 as any ride across Milan, with no airport supplement, and under-14s ride free. Against Malpensa's EUR 15 train and Bergamo's "from EUR 9" coach, this is the whole difference between the three airports.
The Duomo is not on the M4: change at San Babila to M1 for one stop, or at Sforza-Policlinico to M3 at Missori. For Milano Centrale, M3 from Missori is five more stops. The change is on the same ticket, within 90 minutes.
Tap the same card in and out. A card that is not tapped out is charged the fare to the farthest station plus an extra; a card can pay for one person at a time; and cards do not work on Trenord's S lines from Dateo or Forlanini.
ATM's printed sheet says every 1 to 3 minutes at weekday peaks; as of September it is every 4. Either way you will not wait long. After 20:00 it is every 6.
Last train from Linate 00:26; the NM4 bus takes over at 00:40 on the same ticket. First train 05:40, or 06:00 on a Sunday.
Anything over 90 cm on a side is refused at the gates. Ordinary suitcases are carried free under the current rules.

This is what is left of bus 73. The 73 ran to San Babila and the Duomo until the M4 reached San Babila in July 2023; the 973 was extended from Linate to Cinque Giornate at the end of 2025.
It shares the M4's stop at Stazione Forlanini, so it is also the way to the S lines without going into the metro.
The other direction runs out to San Felicino in Peschiera Borromeo; check the destination on the front before boarding.

Twelve minutes to San Babila, every 3–4 minutes by day (every 6 after 20:00), 05:40 (06:00 Sundays) to 00:26. San Babila is on M1, one stop from the Duomo; Sforza-Policlinico, a minute later, changes to M3 for Milano Centrale, on the same 90-minute ticket. A bank card taps for the same EUR 2.20 — remember to tap out, or you are charged the maximum.
When the last train has gone, the NM4 bus takes over: 00:40, then every 30 minutes to 05:10 (05:40 too on Sundays), every night except 30 April, 1 May and Christmas Eve and Day — same ticket, 19 minutes to Piazza San Babila. It is currently diverted via Crocetta and Porta Romana rather than Sforza-Policlinico; check ATM's sheet if heading further west.
There is no fixed taxi fare to central Milan: the meter starts at EUR 4.10 on weekdays, EUR 6.60 on holidays, EUR 7.90 between 21:00 and 06:00, then EUR 1.32 a kilometer, rising to EUR 1.98 past EUR 17.35 — with a EUR 16.00 minimum for any ride leaving the airport. Seven people on the M4 pay EUR 15.40 between them, still less than that minimum.
Two coaches reach Milano Centrale in 25 minutes: Air Pullman's Linate Shuttle, EUR 10.00, every two hours; or Autostradale's Airport Bus Express, EUR 5.00 online (unpublished price at the stop), hourly. The M4 plus one change at Sforza-Policlinico is faster and cheaper: about 21 minutes for EUR 2.20, running 05:40 to past midnight.
Bus 73 no longer runs into town; take the 973 instead, from Arrivals Gate 8, to Piazza Cinque Giornate, every 20 minutes on weekdays and 30 at weekends, EUR 2.20. It is useful for Porta Vittoria and Corso XXII Marzo, but slower than the metro everywhere else.
