At the station

From Penn Station, Grand Central Madison or Atlantic Terminal, take a Long Island Rail Road train that stops at Jamaica, then the AirTrain upstairs. Every line but Port Washington runs through Jamaica, but not every train stops there.

Where the bus leaves from

On the subway, take a Jamaica Center-bound E, J or Z to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, or a Far Rockaway-bound A to Howard Beach-JFK Airport. A trains to Lefferts Boulevard do not connect to the airport.

Tickets

Pay the $8.75 AirTrain fare at the fare gates at Jamaica or Howard Beach with a contactless bank card, phone or OMNY card. Unlimited subway passes are not valid on the AirTrain.

Taxis to the airport

The $70 flat fare applies from Manhattan to JFK too, plus the 50-cent state surcharge, the $1 improvement surcharge, the congestion surcharge and toll, $5 on weekdays from 16:00 to 20:00, tolls and the tip.
