For Amsterdam generally we recommend the Sprinter to Amsterdam Centraal. For The Hague the answer changes.

The station you want is Centraal: the Intercity from platforms 5–6 reaches it in 31 minutes, twice an hour from 05:32 to 00:34 (01:28 Friday and Saturday nights), EUR 11.10 — the Sprinters that also run there take 42 to 48 minutes. Den Haag HS, on the south edge of the center, gets every Rotterdam-bound Intercity in 30 to 32 minutes for EUR 11.30, and is where the night train stops instead, hourly from 02:05 to 05:05 — after 00:34, HS is the way in. No supplement on either route. Four or more off-peak pay EUR 43.00 on the Off-peak Group Ticket; children 4 to 11 ride on a EUR 2.50 Railrunner. Sunday mornings start late: first train to Centraal is 06:05.
