On Saturday 3 October 2026 there is no direct train to Amsterdam Centraal at all — check the planner for engineering weekends.

Finding the stop
The bus stops are right in front of Schiphol Plaza, an easy, well-signposted walk from the arrivals hall. Some services run from temporary stops while the bus station is rebuilt.
Tickets
Buy a ticket at schiphol.tranzer.com or the yellow machines in Schiphol Plaza, or tap a contactless bank card or phone at the yellow readers there. Loading a public transport card needs at least EUR 20, and you must tap in and out.
The taxi rank
The official taxi stand is in front of Schiphol Plaza — follow the signs and floor stickers in the terminal to find it. Refuse a taxi that offers itself to you without asking; only cars at the official stand are checked and metered.
Uber and Bolt

Do not queue for the machine: a single-use chipcard costs EUR 1.60 more than tapping the bank card in your pocket or buying an e-ticket, for the same EUR 5.50 ride.
Since 1 July 2026 a new anonymous OV-chipkaart cannot be bought; check in with a contactless card or phone, or buy an e-ticket.
Check in AND out. A forgotten check-out is EUR 33.30 on a bank card, a forgotten check-in EUR 20.
Vivid, Paysafe and Revolut digital debit cards are refused at the check-in columns; Maestro, V PAY, Mastercard and Visa work.
Eight an hour by day, four an hour after 21:00, every day, from the 05:39 to the 01:09. The night Intercity takes over from 02:03 — see the night train — except Tuesday to Wednesday, when the first direct train of the morning is this 05:39.

Not on Tuesday nights. The direct night train does not run Tuesday to Wednesday; the N97 bus does, hourly from 01:19, and NS offers a two-train route via Bijlmer ArenA at the same fare.
Between the 01:09 Sprinter and the 02:03 night train nothing leaves for Amsterdam except the 01:19 bus.
It stops at Amsterdam Centraal only in Amsterdam, then goes on to Utrecht. For Zuid or Sloterdijk at night take the N97.

HS is not Centraal: it is the station on the Rotterdam line, a tram ride or a 25-minute walk from the Binnenhof. Its point here is the night train, which stops at HS and not at Centraal.
No direct train between 22:45 and 02:05: the evening Intercity directs to Rotterdam run past HS without stopping.

Every Rotterdam-bound Intercity from platforms 5–6 calls here: four an hour on weekdays 05:05 to 22:45, two an hour at weekends. After 22:45 only the Intercity direct runs south, and it skips HS. EUR 19.60 is the EUR 16.40 single plus the EUR 3.20 Intercity direct supplement, which applies only to Intercity direct and Eurocity Direct departures on this route. The supplement is a separate ticket, valid until 04:00 the next day, bought as an e-ticket in the NS app or at the machine (EUR 1.60 extra for a single-use card); a bank card tapped at the gate pays the fare only, not the supplement. A child aged 4 to 11 on a EUR 2.50 Railrunner pays no supplement. Three or more off-peak can combine the EUR 38.50 Off-peak Group Ticket with one supplement each, cheaper than this fare.
Buy the supplement before you board. Without it the conductor charges EUR 10 for it in the train, by NS's own conditions. A bank card tapped at the gate does not include it: buy it as an e-ticket in the NS app.
The EUR 3.20 applies only between Schiphol and Rotterdam Centraal. The same train needs no supplement between Schiphol and Amsterdam Zuid.
It skips Leiden and Den Haag. For those, and for a supplement-free ride, take the ordinary Intercity, 50 minutes.
The Eurocity Direct at 11 past is the Brussels train; an ordinary NS ticket plus the supplement boards it as far as Rotterdam.
Three an hour from platforms 5–6 — the Intercity direct at 22 and 52 past, the Eurocity Direct at 11 past — 06:21 to 23:22 on weekdays, from 06:52 on Saturdays, non-stop over the high-speed line. A 23:52 Intercity does the run in 36 minutes; check the planner for whether it carries the supplement. On 26 and 27 September 2026 no fast trains run at all — use the slow Intercity instead.

The Sprinter from platform 3 reaches Amsterdam Centraal in 16 minutes, eight times an hour, for EUR 5.50 (the airport's own page still shows an outdated EUR 5.20). A single-use chipcard from the machine costs EUR 1.60 more than tapping a bank card or buying an e-ticket. Anonymous OV-chipkaarts have not been sold since 1 July 2026. No airport supplement applies to this train.
After the last Sprinter at 01:09, the night Intercity leaves at 02:03, 03:03, 04:03 and 05:02, 14 minutes to Centraal at the day fare — every night except Tuesday to Wednesday, when nothing direct runs between 00:59 and 05:39 and the planner instead routes via Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA, 32 minutes, same price. The Niteliner N97 bus runs every night regardless, hourly from 01:19 to 04:19, EUR 6.50 to Leidseplein and Centraal Station. Between 01:00 and 05:00 Centraal's only exits are the Westtunnel and the IJ side.
Bus 397, the Amsterdam Airport Express, leaves every ten minutes from stop B17 on lane B, reaching Museumplein in 25 minutes and Leidseplein in 28, EUR 6.50 as an e-ticket or by tapping a card on board (no cash). It does not reach Centraal station by day — the N97 does at night. The bus station is being rebuilt until October 2027, so stops move; follow the signs. Tapping a bank card is charged by distance (EUR 1.16 plus EUR 0.224 a kilometre), so the e-ticket price is the only fare stated here.
No fixed taxi fare exists — only a capped meter: at most EUR 4.31 plus EUR 3.17 a kilometre plus EUR 0.52 a minute for up to four people, or EUR 8.77 plus 4.00 plus 0.59 for a van of five to eight. A fixed price is only possible if agreed before you get in. The Off-peak Group Ticket doesn't help here either: EUR 38.50 for two or three is still more than 5.50 a head by train.
This station also serves the rest of the Randstad. Leiden Centraal is 16 minutes for EUR 7.80, ten trains an hour; Utrecht Centraal 30 to 33 minutes for EUR 11.60, six an hour from platforms 1–2; Den Haag Centraal 31 minutes for EUR 11.10; Rotterdam Centraal 26 minutes on the Intercity direct for EUR 16.40 plus a EUR 3.20 supplement, or 50 minutes without it via Den Haag HS. All are fixed NS fares, nothing needs booking, and night trains serve all four hourly. Board the fast Rotterdam train without the supplement and the conductor charges EUR 10.
