The station, Hamburg Airport (Flughafen), sits directly beneath the terminals. Reach it from the arrivals level of Terminal 1 or 2 by lift, escalator or stairs — there's no need to go back outside.
Finding the stop
The night buses — 606 toward the Hauptbahnhof, 274 toward Ohlsdorf — stop at "S Hamburg Airport", bus area A, right in front of Terminal 1 on the arrivals level.
Tickets
Buy your ticket before you step onto the platform: the machines are by the baggage belts and between arrivals and the platform. An app ticket bought after you've gone through counts as travelling without one — a EUR 60 fine.
The taxi rank
The rank is outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, on the arrivals level — cash or card, either way. For a short ride you can ask up front for the flat EUR 38 rate instead of the meter, though the meter usually comes in cheaper.
Uber and Bolt
Uber operates at Hamburg airport, partly through Uber Taxi, which simply dispatches a licensed cab. There's no single meeting point — request a ride after you land and follow the app out of the terminal.

The 7 % app discount is real and applies to every ticket here: EUR 3.81 a single, EUR 15.25 the group ticket.
Leaving the airport, any car will do. Going back, board one of the FRONT three cars from the city: the train splits at Ohlsdorf and only the front part reaches the airport.
Do not count on the weekend night trains: on Friday and Saturday nights the S1 runs all night from Poppenbüttel and not from the airport. From the airport the last train is 00:32 those nights and 00:12 otherwise, and the first is 04:32.
Do not buy the EUR 2.10 Kurzstrecke or the EUR 3.50 Nahbereich single: from the airport they reach Ohlsdorf and Rübenkamp, not the center.
No engineering closures touch the airport-to-Hauptbahnhof leg through October 2026; the S1 works listed are Altona–Bahrenfeld on 26–27 September and Ohlsdorf–Poppenbüttel on the evenings of 12–13 October.

Four singles cost the same EUR 16.40, so buy the group ticket instead and keep riding all day; five adults pay EUR 16.40 rather than EUR 20.50. In the app, four singles (EUR 15.24) beat the group ticket by one cent. Children aged 6–14 are EUR 1.50, under-6s free — families are usually cheaper on singles.
The old 09:00 rule is gone: HVV abolished all time-restricted tickets on 1 January 2025. A group landing at 07:00 on a weekday can use the group ticket.
The airport's last train is 00:12 Sunday–Thursday, 00:32 Friday–Saturday; first is 04:32 daily. Sunday–Thursday, night bus 606 fills the gap (00:04, 00:34, then every 30 minutes to 03:34, 51 minutes to Hauptbahnhof/ZOB), though nothing runs 03:34–04:32. Friday–Saturday the S1 runs all night from Poppenbüttel instead, reached via bus 274 (01:24–04:06) to Ohlsdorf; nothing runs 00:32–01:24. Ask for the flat EUR 38 fare if traffic worries you — it covers any ride up to 12 km (the inner city is 8), plus EUR 8 for five to eight people. Otherwise the meter starts at EUR 4.50, plus EUR 2.70/km for the first nine, EUR 2.00 after, and EUR 38/hour standing in traffic. The meter usually comes in cheaper, around EUR 26 for eight km, so the flat fare is insurance against traffic, not a saving. Ranks are outside Terminals 1 and 2 at arrivals; cards accepted.
