How do I get from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to Paris city center?

For one traveler the cheapest way is the RER B at €14, 31–44 min, and it is also the fastest. From 5 travelers the Taxi works out cheaper, because its fare is per vehicle rather than per person. Every option below is priced as a total for your party and says where it leaves you.

3 listed options

Not everything runs around the clock, but between them they cover it: the RER B runs 04:50–23:50, and the Noctilien N143 night bus runs 00:12–04:42.

Finding the station

The RER B has two airport stations: Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 serves terminals 1 and 3, on foot or by the free CDGVAL shuttle; Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV serves terminals 2A to 2G, with a shuttle from 2F. Confirm which one matches your terminal.

Tickets

Tickets are digital only: buy the EUR 14 airport fare on your phone (the Île-de-France Mobilités app), load it on a Navigo Easy card from a machine, or tap a contactless bank card at the gate. A Navigo weekly or day pass for zones 1–5 also covers the ride.

The taxi rank

Follow the "Taxis" signs from baggage reclaim to the rank outside your terminal (gate 24 at Terminal 1, gate 10 at 2E, gate 11 at 2F), where agents load the queue. The airport's own rule: decline anyone offering a ride inside the terminal, and check the roof light and the meter. The flat fare to Paris is set by the police prefecture.

Uber and Bolt

Uber, Bolt, Free Now and Heetch all operate, but book before you leave the terminal and meet the car at the drop-off point the app names, not at the taxi rank: gate 16 on the departures level at Terminal 1, gate 5 at 2A, gate 12 at 2C, gate 6 at 2E, gate 10 at 2F. There is no flat rate for them and they cannot use the bus lanes.

The reduced fare applies to children aged 4 to 9; under 4 travel free.

Buy the EUR 14 airport ticket, not the EUR 2.55 one. The ordinary Métro-Train-RER ticket and the Navigo Jour are sold everywhere and are not valid to or from the airport; the machines at the airport sell the right one.

The EUR 14 ticket is void on every bus, including the night bus. If you land after the last train, the N143 needs a separate EUR 2.05 Bus-Tram ticket.

Two trains, two speeds: trains with two intermediate stops reach Gare du Nord in 31 minutes, all-stations trains in 35 to 40. Both cost the same; take whichever comes.

On most weekday evenings this autumn the last train from the airport is 22:49, not 23:50, and the replacement bus takes 80 to 90 minutes to Gare de l'Est from the Roissypôle bus station, not from the platforms. Check the day before relying on a late train.

A Navigo Easy card cannot hold an airport ticket and a Métro-Train-RER ticket at the same time. If yours already has ordinary tickets on it, buy the airport ticket on your phone or on a second card.

Two children aged 4 to 9 travel for the price of one adult; under 4 is free. There is no family or group price beyond that.

The ordinary EUR 2.05 Bus-Tram ticket works on this night bus; the EUR 14 airport ticket does not. Reduced fare EUR 1.05 for children 4 to 9. Buy for EUR 2.05 on a phone or Navigo Easy card, or EUR 2.50 on board from the driver.

It only exists between 00:12 and 04:42. Outside those hours there is no N143, and the RER B (04:50 to 23:50) is what runs instead.

There is no night gap at this airport: the last N143 leaves Terminal 2 at 04:42 and the first RER B at 04:50. The longest wait for anything to Paris, all night, is the 30-minute headway.

Do not board it with the EUR 14 airport ticket; that ticket is not valid on any bus. Buy a EUR 2.05 Bus-Tram ticket, or pay the driver EUR 2.50.

The N140 also runs, at 01:10, 02:10 and 03:10 from Terminal 2, for the same EUR 2.05 — and takes 84 minutes by way of Sevran, Aulnay and Pantin. Take the N143.

On works evenings when the RER B stops at 22:49, the RER B replacement bus (22:40 to 00:10 from Roissypôle) fills the hour before the first N143.

From the Terminal 2 stop, every night: 00:12, 00:42, 00:57, 01:12, 01:42, 02:12, 02:42, 03:12, 03:27, 03:42, 04:12 and 04:42. The bus starts at Roissypôle ten minutes earlier and calls at Terminal 1 two minutes after that. Gare du Nord is 42 minutes away, Gare de l'Est 45.

The ordinary EUR 2.05 Bus-Tram ticket works here (reduced EUR 1.05). Onward from Saint-Denis-Pleyel by metro 14 needs a separate EUR 2.55 ticket — EUR 4.60 total to the center, against EUR 14 on the RER B.

This is IDFM's named replacement for the Roissybus, and it does not go to Paris: it ends at Saint-Denis-Pleyel and carries on to Argenteuil. Budget EUR 2.05 for the bus plus EUR 2.55 for metro 14 and a change.

IDFM advertises "un trajet direct en 30 minutes". Its own timetable schedules 32 to 60 minutes from Roissypôle to Pleyel, typically about 42, because the bus calls at La Plaine and Stade de France on the way.

It leaves from Roissypôle, not from the terminals. From Terminal 2 that is nine minutes on the CDGVAL first; from Terminal 1, four.

The EUR 14 airport ticket is not valid on it. Neither is the EUR 2.55 metro ticket you will need afterwards.

From the Roissypôle bus station, stand E1: 05:25–00:15 on weekdays (05:20 at weekends), every 15 minutes at peak, 30 off-peak, 20 by day at weekends.

The flat taxi fare is fixed by law: EUR 56 to the right bank (arrondissements 1–4, 8–12, 16–20), EUR 65 to the left bank (5–7, 13–15), same both directions, no time-of-day clause. Add EUR 5.50 per passenger from the fifth (adult or child); a taxi can seat up to eight. Booked taxis add EUR 4 (immediate) or EUR 7 (in advance). There is no luggage supplement.

From five people the taxi is cheapest to the right bank: EUR 61.50 against EUR 70 on the RER B, EUR 78 for eight against EUR 112. An ordinary taxi seats four, so book a larger one for five or more; the booking fee still leaves it ahead.

To the left bank (EUR 65 flat), five people pay EUR 70.50 by taxi against EUR 70 by train — the taxi wins from six. The boundary is the river: 1st–4th, 8th–12th and 16th–20th arrondissements are right bank; 5th–7th and 13th–15th are left.

It is the same price at 03:00 as at noon. The arrêté has no night, Sunday or holiday variant for the flat fare, whatever the meter's tariff letter says.

Ask for a stop or a detour on the way and the flat fare no longer applies; the meter does. Waiting you request is charged on top.

No authority publishes a taxi journey time; 45 minutes is a working estimate, based on the N143 night bus's 42-minute timetabled run on the same road with no traffic. Allow more than an hour at peak.

Any Paris taxi must apply this fare, and the ranks are the place to find one. A driver quoting more than EUR 56 to a right-bank address for four people with bags is wrong.

Worth knowing

The Roissybus no longer runs — it stopped 1 March 2026. Anything directing you to it is out of date. Use the RER B, express bus 9517 to Saint-Denis-Pleyel, or buses 350 and 351 instead.

The EUR 14 airport ticket is only for the RER B — it is void on every bus, Noctilien included. Buses use the ordinary EUR 2.05 Bus-Tram ticket instead, but none reaches the middle of Paris directly. A family of four pays EUR 56 on the train, or EUR 8.20 by bus to Saint-Denis-Pleyel plus EUR 10.20 on metro 14 from there.

The taxi to the right bank is a flat EUR 56 for up to four, plus EUR 5.50 per passenger from the fifth; a taxi can legally seat eight. Five people pay EUR 61.50 by taxi against EUR 70 on the RER B; eight pay EUR 78 against EUR 112. To the left bank (EUR 65 flat) the train still wins at five, by 50 cents, but the taxi wins from six. An ordinary taxi seats four, so book a larger one for five or more.

The N143 night bus leaves Terminal 2 for Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est every 30 minutes, 00:12–04:42, EUR 2.05; the first RER B follows at 04:50. But through at least 9 October 2026, the RER B stops at 22:49 on most weekday evenings, replaced by an 80–90 minute bus from Roissypôle to Gare de l'Est. Land at 23:00 on a Tuesday and the 35-minute train is not there.

The flat fare is set by law, not the driver: EUR 56 to the right bank, EUR 65 to the left, same in both directions, no luggage supplement. Only a EUR 4 or EUR 7 booking fee, EUR 5.50 per passenger from the fifth, and requested waiting may be added. Ask for a stop along the way and the flat fare no longer applies.

A EUR 25 express train is due 28 March 2027: Gare de l'Est in 20 minutes, every 15 minutes, 05:00 to midnight, free up to age 16. Until then the RER B is the only train.
