Boards at. The SkyTrain stations at Terminal A/B and Terminal C, then Düsseldorf Flughafen station
One Preisstufe A single, EUR 3.80, covers both the SkyTrain and the train; a child EUR 2.10. A Deutschlandticket and a Rail&Fly ticket cover both as well. Without a ticket the SkyTrain is paid by tapping a bank card or phone at its entrance and exit, at a distance-based price that is never more than a regular ticket.
Luggage. No luggage trolleys on the SkyTrain; the cabins have space for suitcases.
Hours. The SkyTrain sets the hours: 03:45 to 00:45 daily, every 5 to 7 minutes. From the far station about seven trains an hour reach the Hauptbahnhof by day, and they carry on through the night — 01:34, 01:57 and 03:33, plus 02:33 on Friday and Saturday nights — when the SkyTrain has stopped. Until 25 October 2026 a shuttle bus links the terminal and that station from 02:15 to 03:30.
The options are still here — your budget or journey-time filter is drawn tighter than any of them. Widen either one, or reset the filters, to bring them back.
Prices are whole-party totals; group fares are included. Ride times are recorded journey durations — no waiting or onward travel has been added — and road times vary with traffic. A flight three or more hours late, or cancelled at short notice, can be owed up to €600 a passenger under EU and UK rules, depending on the flight. AirHelp charges only if the claim succeeds.

Arriving late?
Not everything runs around the clock: the S11 from under the terminal runs 05:24–01:24, and the U80 light rail from Terminal C runs 04:16–01:03, and the Bus 721 to the Hauptbahnhof runs 04:35–01:09, and the SkyTrain, then a regional train from Düsseldorf Flughafen station runs 03:46–00:46. Outside those hours, the Pre-booked private transfer is what remains. Set the hour you leave arrivals and the board keeps only what is running.

An S-Bahn with open floor space by the doors; no published luggage rule.
Prefer one way in?
Every Düsseldorf option of one kind, against the rest
The S11 leaves from "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal", in the basement of the terminal; the U80 from the "Flughafen Terminal" stop at Terminal C. Regional and long-distance trains use "Düsseldorf Flughafen", a separate station at the east end of the site: take the SkyTrain from Terminal A/B or C, seven minutes.
Finding the stop
Bus 721 to the Hauptbahnhof leaves from the bus station in front of the central arrivals hall, with the 760 to Ratingen and the SB51 to Kaarst. FlixBus coaches use stand 14 of the same bus station; the 729, 759 and 776 leave from the bus station at Düsseldorf Flughafen station instead.
Tickets
Buy a Preisstufe A single, EUR 3.80, in the VRR or Rheinbahn app, at a machine, or from the bus driver with small change; validate a paper ticket. The SkyTrain takes any valid VRR ticket, a Deutschlandticket or Rail&Fly — otherwise tap a bank card or phone at its entrance and again when you get off.
The taxi rank
Taxis wait day and night on both the arrivals and departures levels. Those with an "Airport Taxi" plaque meet the airport's own standard: card payment, drivers who know the city, a child seat. The meter runs; the airport reckons about EUR 32 to the centre and EUR 34 to the Hauptbahnhof, without guarantee.
Uber and Bolt
Uber and Bolt both operate here. Book in the app and meet the driver at the "Ride-App-Pickup" point outside exit B on the arrivals level, near door D — it is signed with both logos. The price is shown before you confirm and does not change with traffic; only licensed hire companies drive for either app.
At night
After the last S11 at 01:24 nothing leaves the terminal until the U80 at 04:16 (04:03 at weekends). The SkyTrain is shut from 00:45 to 03:45, so the night trains at Düsseldorf Flughafen station are out of reach; until 25 October 2026 a shuttle bus runs there between 02:15 and 03:30. Otherwise a taxi or a ride app.
Luggage
Luggage trolleys cannot be taken on the SkyTrain: leave the trolley at the SkyTrain station and carry your bags aboard. The cabins have room for suitcases and panoramic windows; the ride to the far station is about seven minutes.

Worth knowing
Every way into town is the same EUR 3.80 ticket, Preisstufe A, valid 90 minutes: the S11 in 12 minutes, the U80 in about 18, bus 721 in about 25. A Deutschlandticket covers all of them, and the SkyTrain.
Two stations, nearly one name. "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal", under the terminal, has only the S11; "Düsseldorf Flughafen", 2.5 km away by SkyTrain, has the regional and long-distance trains.
Nothing leaves the terminal between 01:24 and about 04:05: the last S11 is 01:24, the last U80 01:03, the last 721 bus 01:09 (01:24 Friday and Saturday nights); the first U80 is 04:16, or 04:03 at weekends.

No taxi fare is fixed: Düsseldorf taxis run on a meter. The airport's own guide figures are about EUR 32 and 15 minutes to the centre, about EUR 34 and 20 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof, and it says they are without guarantee.
Uber and Bolt both pick up at the airport, at the point marked "Ride-App-Pickup" outside exit B on the arrivals level. The price is shown before you book and is billed at the local taxi tariff.
